History

1928 Founded in Koto-ku, Tokyo.
1930 Organized as partnership in commendam
1947 Reorganized as OKAMOTO GLASS CO., LTD.
1951 Certified marine glass factory (no. 636) with JIS mark.
1964 Chiba plant (present Glass Manufacturing Plant) began its operation.
1981 Electric fusing furnace started its operation.
1984 Vacuum deposition started its operation.
1987 Introduced Glass gathering robot at electric fusing furnace.
1995 Established TAIWAN OKAMOTO GLASS CO., LTD.
1996 Acquired a composition and product patent “Crystallized Glass”.
1997 Certified as the enterprise for ‘Temporary Law concerning Measures for the Promotion of the Creative Business Activities of Small and Medium Enterprises’
1998 Received an official commendation for 2nd Chiba Prefecture Venture Business Management. Completed a new building of Thin Film Manufacturing Plant.
1999 Emperor Akihito visited its factory.
Received a prize from the Medium and Small Business Research Institute (present Good Company Award). Also received an invention prize for “Crystallized Glass” from Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII).
2000 Received the Invention Grand Prix for “Reflector” made of crystallized glass from The Japan Society for the Advanced of inventions (JSAI).
Also received the grand prize of the 5th Chiba “Genki Jirushi” Enterprise (enterprise of good spirits) from the governor of Chiba Pref.
2001 Received the excellent grand prize of the 11th New Business Prize from the New Business Conference (NBC).
Established OKAMOTO OPTECH CO., LTD. in Taiwan.
2002 Completion of Headoffice building and the glass manufacturing Factory No.4.
Registered and received designation ISO9001: 2000 for reflector for projector.
2003 Consolidated subsidiary OSAKA OKAMOTO GLASS CO., LTD.

2013 Edokko 1′ , a deep-sea research device succeeded in the world’s first photographing of a 3D video in 7,800m at greater ocean depth.
